Dog Babies free crochet pattern

Materials:

F hook

Worsted weight yarn in white, black, blue (your choice for main body)

Fiberfill stuffing

Tapestry needle

Plastic eyes or embroider with black yarn

Stitch marker

 

Terms used:

Sc= single crochet

Ch= chain

Sts= stitches

Sl st= slip stitch

F.O.= fasten off

2sctog= single crochet decrease over two stitches

Note: these dogs are done in a continuous spiral, unless otherwise noted. Mark your place with a stitch marker.

Body:

Starting with main color

Ch2

Row 1: Work 6 sc in second ch

Row 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)

Row 3: Work *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat around. ( 18sts)

Row 4: Work *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* Repeat around (24sts)

Row5: Work *1 sc in next 3sc, 2 sc in next sc* Repeat around (30sts)

Row 6-7-: sc in each sc around (30sts)

Row 8: Work *2sctog, 1 sc in next 3 sc* around (24sts)

Row 9-10-11: 1sc in each sc around

Row 12: Work *2sctog, 1sc in next 2 sc* around (18sts)

Row 13: Work *2sctog, 1 sc in next sc* around (12sts)

Row 14-15: 1 sc in each sc around           

Row 16: Work *2sctog, 1 sc in next sc* around (8sts) start stuffing

Row 17: work *2sc tog, 1 sc in next 2* around (6sts) finish stuffing

F.O. weave in ends.

Head:

Starting with main color

Ch2

Row 1: Work 6 sc in second ch

Row 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)

Row 3: Work *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat around. ( 18sts)

Row 4: Work *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* Repeat around (24sts)

Row5: Work *1 sc in next 3sc, 2 sc in next sc* Repeat around (30sts)

Row 6-7-8: sc in each sc around

Row 9: Work *sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sc* around (24sts)

Row 10: Work *2sctog, 1sc in next 2 sc* around (18sts)

Row 11: Work *2sctog, 1 sc in next sc* around (12sts)

Row 12: Work *2sctog, 1 sc in next sc* around (8sts) F.O. leaving long tail for sewing. Stuff head with fiberfill stuffing

Legs

 (make 2) with white ch2

Row 1: work 6sc in second ch

Row 2: work 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Row 3: work *2sctog* around, (6sc) change to main color at last 2sctog

Row 4-10: 1sc in each sc around. Sl st to next sc. F.O. leaving long tail for sewing.

Arms

(make 2) with white ch2

Row 1: work 6 sc in second ch

Row 2: work 2 sc in each sc around. (12sc)

Row 3: work *2sctog* around, (6sc) change to main color at last 2sctog

Row 4-8: 1 sc in each sc around. Sl st to next sc. F.O. leaving long tail for sewing.

Tail

With main body color yarn ch 2

Row 1: work 6 sc in second ch

Row 2-6: work 1 sc in each sc around. F.O. leaving long tail for sewing.  

 

White Beagle

Follow main pattern for body, head, arms, legs and tail with white yarn.

 Muzzle in white yarn, do both inner and outer ears the same color or you can also do the inner ears in black.

Muzzle

With white ch4

Row 1: 1 sc in second ch, 1 sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch, (working on underside of ch) 1 sc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch, sl st to first sc made, ch 1.

Row 2: 2 sc in same as sl st, 1 sc in next sc, *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around.  sl st in first sc made, ch 1. (12sc)

Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, same as sl st, 1 sc in next sc, *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around. Sl st in first sc made, ch 1. (18 sc)

Row 4-5: 1 sc in same as sl st, 1 sc in each sc around, sl st to first sc made, ch 1.

Row 6: work *2sctog, 1 sc in next sc* around, sl st in first sc made, (12sc)

F.O. leaving long tail for sewing.

Outer Ears (Make 2) 

Ch 2

Row 1: (RS) 3 sc in second ch. Ch 1 Turn

Row 2:  2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1 Turn (3 sc)

Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1 Turn (5 sc)

Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch1 Turn (7sc)

Row 5-9: work 1 sc in next 7 sc. Ch 1 Turn

Row 10: work 2sctog, 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2sctog. Ch 1 Turn (5sc)

Row 11: work 2sctog, 1 sc in next sc, 2sctog. (3 sc) F.O. leave long tail for sewing. Weave in tail from beginning ch 2.

 

Inner Ears (Make 2)

Ch 2

Row 1: (RS) 3 sc in second ch. Ch 1 Turn

Row 2:  2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1 Turn (3 sc)

Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1 Turn (5 sc)

Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch1 Turn (7sc)

Row 5-9: work 1 sc in next 7 sc. Ch 1 Turn

Row 10: work 2sctog, 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2sctog. Ch 1 Turn (5sc)

Row 11: work 2sctog, 1 sc in next sc, 2sctog. (3 sc) F.O. Weave in ends from beginning and end.

 

Finishing Ears

 With tail left from outer ear thread into a tapestry needle,

Position outer ear and inner ear right side facing out, Sew them together with the needle through both thickness. Weave in ends.

Bend forward to form shape.

 

Finishing the dog

Place head on top of body and pin in place, thread tapestry needle with tail left from the head and sew together.

Position ears on side of head where you want them and pin them down in place. Thread tapestry needle with remaining tail from ears and sew them down. Place muzzle on face and pin it down. Thread tapestry needle with tail and start to sew around before finishing stuff muzzle with some fiberfill stuffing, then finish sewing.

Position legs on bottom of body, the legs should come down a bit to help the dog stand on their own. Pin the legs down and sit the dog to make sure it stands, rearrange legs till it does. Thread needle with the yarn and start to sew the top of the leg first, pass the yarn to the side of the leg and sew it to the side of the body, this way the legs are sewn all the way around.

Pin the arms on the side of the body and sew them down.  Pin tail to the back of the body (use tail to balance the dog too) and sew in place.

Thread needle with some black yarn and sew on eyes, nose and mouth. You can also use plastic eyes or felt to make dog’s features.

 

 

Chiguagua

Follow main pattern for body, head, arms legs and tail.

Muzzle

With white ch4

Row 1: 1 sc in second ch, 1 sc in next ch, 3 sc in next ch, (working on underside of ch) 1 sc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch, sl st to first sc made, ch 1.

Row 2: 2 sc in same as sl st, 1 sc in next sc, *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around.  sl st in first sc made, ch 1. (12sc)

Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, same as sl st, 1 sc in next sc, *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around. Sl st in first sc made, ch 1. (18 sc)

Row 4-5: 1 sc in same as sl st, 1 sc in each sc around, sl st to first sc made, ch 1.

Row 6: work *2sctog, 1 sc in next sc* around, sl st in first sc made, (12sc)

Row 7: sl st in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc, ch1 turn

Row 8: 1 sc in next 3 sc, ch 1 turn

Row 9: 2sctog, 1 sc in next sc, ch1 turn

Row 10: 2sctog, ch1 turn

Row 11: 1sc, F.O. leaving long tail for sewing.

Ears

With main color ch2

Row 1: work 6 sc in second ch

Row 2: 1 sc in each sc around (6sc)

Row 3: work 2 sc in each sc around (12sc)

Row 4-6: 1 sc in each sc around

Row 7: work *2sctog, 1sc in next 4sc* twice, sl st in next sc, F.O. leaving long tail for sewing. (10sc)

Pinch ears in the center to form shape.

 

 

Finishing the dog

Place head on top of body and pin in place, thread tapestry needle with tail left from the head and sew together.

Position ears on side of head where you want them and pin them down in place. Thread tapestry needle with remaining tail from ears and sew them down. Place muzzle on face and pin it down. Thread tapestry needle with tail and start to sew around topside first and then around, before finishing stuff muzzle with some fiberfill stuffing, then finish sewing.

Position legs on bottom of body, the legs should come down a bit to help the dog stand on their own. Pin the legs down and sit the dog to make sure it stands, rearrange legs till it does. Thread needle with the yarn and start to sew the top of the leg first, pass the yarn to the side of the leg and sew it to the side of the body, this way the legs are sewn all the way around.

Pin the arms on the side of the body and sew them down.

Pin tail to the back of the body (use tail to balance the dog too) and sew in place.
